Makelan Corporation manufactures and sells complete kits and accessories for the Hatz Classic Biplane.  An experimental airplane developed from Billy Dawson’s Hatz Classic, which won Grand Champion at the National Biplane Expo and Oshkosh ‘97 Grand Champion Plans Built.  

The Hatz Classic Biplane features the safe, time proven construction method of  4130 chromoly steel, tig welded fuselage and fittings, wooden truss built ribs, wooden spars and fabric covering.  The engine of choice is the reliable 160 horsepower Lycoming 0-320.  At 1700 pounds gross weight, 3 hour range, and a good power to weight ratio, The Hatz Classic is in a class of its own.
